From Shadow To Soul: A Therapy For Life

I’m Alexander, a BACP counsellor. I offer a calm, confidential space to explore anxiety, shame, depression, or feeling lost and stuck. I work from shadow to soul — helping you discover not just relief from symptoms, but deeper meaning and transformation.

What Brings People to Therapy

Sometimes people come to therapy with a clear sense of what they want to work on. At other times, it’s more of a feeling — that something isn’t right, that life feels heavy, or that they’re caught in patterns they don’t fully understand.

Whatever brings you, therapy provides a private and respectful space to talk things through. Having the support of someone trained to sit with difficult feelings and experiences can help you make sense of your past, see the present with a fresh perspective, and feel more resourced to face the future.

About Me

Before training as a counsellor, I worked in community-based roles supporting parents and families. Alongside this, I had my own experience of therapy, which I found profoundly transformative. Having a space where I could be heard, reflect, and grow, made such a difference that I felt called to train so I could offer the same kind of space to others.

I trained at Re-Vision in London, in an approach called Integrative Transpersonal Counselling. This brings together psychodynamic and humanistic traditions with a soulful, imaginative perspective. I hold the belief that what we struggle with is not just something to be managed, but often carries meaning — pointing us towards new possibilities and growth.

Clients often describe me as calm, compassionate, thoughtful, and down-to-earth. I aim to offer a steady presence where what feels unbearable or confusing can be spoken, explored, and gradually transformed.

Why I Do This Work

I’ve sat in the client’s chair for hundreds of hours. This work — the slow, honest work of being human — has saved me more than once. It has made life bearable and, at times, astonishing. I’ve come to believe in the power of stories, not as explanations, but as the way we make sense of being alive. Life, as I experience it, is both magnificent and terribly sad, and I want to be part of its telling.

The world keeps getting brighter and faster — electrified, measured, data-driven — yet I’ve found that what matters most often lives in the dark: the places we fear, the parts we hide, the mysteries we can’t name. I believe everything belongs; nothing is truly isolated. We are all threads in a wider web of connection, and therapy is one of the places where that truth can be spoken and felt.

Fundamentally, I’m here for the conversation — for the attempt to speak honestly about what it is to be alive, to suffer, to love, to change.

  • Getting Started

I offer a free 20-minute phone call so you can get a feel for how I work and whether it feels like a good fit.

  • How We Work Together

Therapy works best when it’s regular and consistent. Most clients meet weekly at an agreed time.

You’re free to stop at any point — I simply ask that we have a final session to bring things to a thoughtful close.

Fees, Cancellations and Confidentiality

  • Individual sessions: £70 for 60 minutes.

Introductory call: Free 20-minute phone or video call to see if we’re a good fit

Concessions: I keep a small number of reduced-fee spaces available. Please ask if cost is a barrier.

Payment is usually made by bank transfer ahead of each session.

  • I ask for 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. If less notice is given, the full fee will normally be charged. I recognise that emergencies can happen, and I aim to be fair and compassionate in individual circumstances.

  • Our sessions are confidential. I do not share information about clients, or details of what is said in therapy, in any way that could identify you.

Like all therapists working ethically, I regularly discuss my work in supervision, but clients are never named or identifiable.

The only exceptions to confidentiality are if:

    • I believe you are at serious risk of harming yourself or another person, or

    • I am legally required to share information.

If such a situation ever arose, I would always aim to discuss it with you first.
